Conservatories are 'perfect for marrying inside and out'

29 July 2010

Conservatories are an ideal addition to a property because of the benefits of "marrying inside and out", it has been suggested.

Writing for the New Zealand Herald, Neil Ross claimed that a good conservatory can afford a homeowner valuable extra space and the chance to experiment with exotic plants.

He also observed that conservatories have progressed considerably since the days when they were generally a greenhouse added on to French doors at the back of a house.

"Whether you call it a conservatory, garden room or sun lounge, a light and airy extension is the perfect way of marrying inside and out," wrote Mr Ross.

"On a blustery winter's day, there's no better way to feel you are outside when you are in fact still snugly indoors sniffing the flowers while eating, watching TV or sitting at the laptop."

Mr Ross also urged homeowners to avoid the "disaster" of investing in a conservatory which is too small or too hot for both entertaining and growing plants.

Meanwhile, Alison Cork wrote in the Daily Telegraph this week that Britons can give their bespoke conservatories a "makeover" by purchasing made-to-measure blinds.
