Conservatory owners could plant trees to help environment
Brits who have invested in a bespoke conservatory could help the environment while giving themselves a nicer view.
According to the Woodland Trust, even a small effort towards making the garden greener can go a long way.
The organisation suggested that homeowners and businesses in urban areas can help reduce their carbon footprint by planting native trees and creating a healthy garden.
Carbon manager Dr Nick Atkinson explained that planting native trees, such as hazel, has benefits that stretch beyond locking up carbon and improving the view from the conservatory.
"Within a few years you would be able to coppice that and you would be able to take sticks instead of garden canes and bean poles and make rustic garden furniture," he said.
Dr Atkinson added that this also helps cut emissions from importing such garden utensils.
The Woodland Trust has teamed up with Ronseal to launch Urban Gardens Week 2010, which begins on March 22nd and ends on March 28th.
